Have you ever sat outside, looked at the stars and just pondered, “what exactly is Jesus doing in Heaven?”… well I have.
On many occasions. And today, I’d like to share what I’ve learned with you because the Bible does give a sneak peak into His many different roles.
•Let’s take a look from a Birds Eye view 🕊️
Part 1. Preparing Our Home
•••“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?”
John 14:2 NLT•••
Explanation: As the Bible puts simply, Jesus is currently in heaven, literally preparing a place for us (disciples to come) as we speak. Heaven is full of gold, trees 🌲 , living water 🌊 , animals, clouds as pavements 🌈☁️, angels, rays of light radiating from God, and so much more, would there not be houses? Dining rooms for us to sit with the King? Places with hallways to gather in for fellowship? The Endless God known as our Father sits on a throne in a throne room… one can only assume that there is other places in Heaven. Why not homes.
Just imagine, you finally make it to the end of the race, you won. Your getting ready to walk through those large pearly gates and an angel escort to a beautiful garden field with all your favorite followers, and there you see Jesus, standing in front of the most beautiful house you’ve ever seen and He tells you that He loves you and that He’s been waiting for you and this was prepared just for you… I don’t know about y’all but I’m looking forward to meeting my Savior.
Part 2. Conversing with the Spirit & Commanding the Angels
•••“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
John 14:26 NLT•••
•••“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.””
John 16:13-15 NIV•••
Explanation: God, the Father will send His Holy Spirit to every person who chooses to become disciples and then baptized. Or He will allow for people to encounter His Spirit so that they may become disciples (follower of Jesus and children of God). To make is easier to understand, God, the Father send His Holy Spirit and from there, Jesus is the line of communication. So to say, “The Holy Spirit directly told you something” is to say Jesus told the Holy Spirit to give you a direct message (please know I’m not referring to anything out the Bible).
Example: In the past six month, I have felt God speaking to me so much more clearly than last year and one of the reasons were because He wanted me to move. So, the Holy Spirit was giving me dreams, laying it on my heart, my desire began to shift, I found myself wanting to move to Tampa very much eagerly (keep in mind, Tampa was the last place I would’ve ever wanted to be) and God was just confirming time after time so I could confidently say, the Holy Spirit was directing me. However, it makes all the more better just knowing that Jesus was the one telling the Holy Spirit to tell me to move, and to trust Him. I have more scenarios like this but it just goes to show how intimately involved Jesus is in my life while He’s in Heaven! and the same goes for the life of every single disciple, and lost sheep He wants to see saved. Now, it may not be the case all the time because conviction comes from the Holy Spirit. As Jesus said, He will REMIND YOU of what has already been spoken. So you need to ask yourself, how much of the Bible do you know? Because how much you know, is how much you will be reminded of.
•••“Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.”
Hebrews 1:14 NLT•••
Explanation: If you’re a disciple, it’s not an unknown fact that Jesus is very active in todays time. Recently, the attempted assissination on Donald Trump was deemed as a miracle because of how close the bullets came to hitting him, even as far as grazing his cheek and ears. Who’s to say Jesus didn’t command an angel to stand guard around Trump or better yet, control the outcome of the bullets himself. Least to say, clearly it wasn’t Donald Trump’s time by the grace of God. I say this to say because, Jesus works closely with the angels in heaven to aid us.
-Ever prayed for protection?
-Ever had an encounter that saved your life?
-Heard a whisper that told you not to do something for no reason then come to find out it’s because something bad would’ve happened?
-Or prayed to meet someone, and then meet that person?
The Bible says there is no such thing as coincidence. Everything is planned by God and He commands His angels as servants to see to it that everything goes according to plan. Read 1 King 22 for better understanding. There’s so many scriptures throughout the Bible of angels appearing to people to either help, warn, inform, you name it and it’s because God commanded it.
Part 3. Hanging Out with His people
•••“Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!”
John 17:24 NLT•••
•••“And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.””•••
Luke 23:43 NLT
And then last but not least, Jesus is literally hanging out and having a blast, spending time with those already in heaven. It’s His desire for us to be with Him and see Him as He is. Think about it:
—-Abraham sat and prepared a meal for the Angel of the Lord and his two angels.
—-Jacob wrestled with the Angel of the Lord.
—— The Angel of the Lord met Hagar in the desert and provided her and ishmael water.
—- All throughout Judges, you see the Angel of the Lord meeting men of Israel as a man
—- Don’t forget, Jesus at the age of 12, sat with religious teacher asking questions and having theological debates.
He is the visible image of the invisible God forever…. Whatever you enjoy doing here on earth, look forward to being able to do it with Jesus in heaven.
I already go on dates with the Father and Jesus every week or every other week, I can only hope and look forward to that continuing once I’m in heaven.
Summary: To summarize, I only shared 3 view points of what Jesus is doing right now in heaven. Keep in mind, I didn’t mention how he also intercedes for us to the Father when we (disciples) sin because He is our High priest in heaven. The list could go on, and I’m sure there more things Jesus is doing but the scripture only give us an insight which is a privilege and blessing already to know the business of our Lord and Savior.
Why does He tell us these things? Simple… because we’re His friends. : )
•••“I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.”
John 15:15 NLT•••
This reminds me of the song “I got a home in heaven” very inspiring and encouraging!
